Livingstone Softball Falls to Bluefield State in Road Doubleheader

Bluefield, V.A.- The Livingstone College softball team was unable to slow down Bluefield State on Thursday afternoon, dropping both games of a doubleheader at Graham Recreation Park. The Blue Bears fell 12–0 in Game 1 and were defeated 14–3 in Game 2.

Game 1: Bluefield State 12, Livingstone 0
Bluefield State jumped out early in the opener, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding six more in the second to take immediate control. The hosts finished with 17 hits in the five‑inning contest.

Livingstone collected six hits but was unable to bring runners across the plate. Natayah Abdul‑Hakim went 2‑for‑3 at the top of the order, while Alyse Stokes added two hits and Valeria Rolón chipped in a single. Lanise Pates took the loss in the circle after pitching four innings.

Game 2: Bluefield State 14, Livingstone 3
Livingstone showed early momentum in Game 2, grabbing a 2–0 lead in the first inning and adding another run in the third. Gerielle Dumervil finished 2‑for‑2 with a run scored, while Abdul‑Hakim crossed the plate twice.

The turning point came in the fourth inning, when Bluefield State erupted for nine runs to break the game open. The hosts totaled 13 hits, including extra‑base hits from Madison Roland, Paige Whittington, and Mikaylah Chimara.

Emma Cardenas was tagged with the loss for Livingstone, with Gabriella Munoz providing relief out of the bullpen.

The Blue Bears will look to bounce back as they head to Morris College on Saturday, April 4, for another doubleheader, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. and the nightcap scheduled for 3 p.m.
