Softball Sweeps Morris College in Dominant Doubleheader

Salisbury, N.C.- Livingstone College softball put together a dominant all‑around performance on Tuesday, powering past Morris College in both games of their home doubleheader.

Game 1: Livingstone 22, Morris 0
Livingstone College opened the doubleheader with an explosive offensive performance, overwhelming Morris College 22–0 in a run-rule victory.

The Blue Bears erupted for nine runs in the first inning, taking advantage of wild pitches and sharp hitting. Natayah Abdul‑Hakim and Gerielle Dumervil each scored on wild pitches before Valeria Rolon also crossed on the same play to make it 3–0.

Lanise Pates broke the inning open with a two‑RBI double, scoring Makaylah Sutton and Alyse Stokes. A bases‑loaded walk to Dayjah Jones scored another run, followed by RBI from Abdul‑Hakim, Dumervil, and Sutton, pushing the lead to 9–0.

In the second inning, Livingstone exploded again—this time for 11 runs. Key highlights included:
  • A triple from Rylee Watson that cleared the bases
  • Watson's inside‑the‑park home run
  • Rolon's three‑run inside‑the‑park homer to right
  • Additional RBI from Watson and Porter
 
Tykera Lundy added an inside‑the‑park homer in the third, and Gabriella Munoz scored in the fourth on an error to close the scoring at 22–0.

Pitching:
  • Lanise Pates (W, 1–0) struck out eight in 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits.
  • Emma Cardenas threw 2.0 hitless innings to finish the combined shutout.
Offensive Leaders:
  • Rylee Watson: 4-for-5, 6 RBI, HR, 3B
  • Valeria Rolon: HR, 3 RBI
  • Pates, Dumervil, Sutton, Abdul‑Hakim, Lundy all delivered key run production
 
Game 2: Livingstone 9, Morris 0
Livingstone kept the momentum going in the nightcap with a second shutout, defeating Morris 9–0.

The Blue Bears struck for seven runs in the first inning once again. Abdul‑Hakim scored on a wild pitch, Dumervil scored on an error, and Porter delivered an RBI single to bring home Rolon. Another wild pitch allowed Porter to score, followed by a RBI double from Watson, and two more runs from Munoz and Lundy on a wild pitch sequence.

Valeria Rolon added an RBI single in the second, and Dumervil launched an inside‑the‑park home run in the fourth to give Livingstone a commanding 9–0 advantage.

Pitching: Offensive Leaders:
  • Dumervil: 3 runs, HR
  • Rolon: 2-for-2, RBI
  • Watson: 2-for-2, RBI
  • Extra‑base hits from Jones, Sutton, Abdul‑Hakim, and Aniyah Jones highlighted the balanced attack
 
The Lady Blue Bears look to keep their winning streak going as they head to the CIAA Round-Up in Raleigh, NC, hosted by Shaw University, March 26th–28th.
