Salisbury, NC — The Lady Blue Bears delivered a complete team performance Saturday afternoon, earning a 63–51 victory over Johnson C. Smith inside William Trent Gymnasium.
Livingstone opened the afternoon with strong energy on both ends of the floor, jumping out to a 17–13 lead after the first quarter. The Blue Bears' defense tightened even further in the second, holding JCSU to just 10 points and pushing the halftime score to 34–23.
Johnson C. Smith matched Livingstone with 18 points in the third quarter in an effort to close the gap, but the Blue Bears' composure kept the Golden Bulls from gaining momentum.
Breasia Coit led all scorers with 19 points, shooting an efficient 7-for-14 from the field. She added 7 rebounds and 3 blocks, powering the offense throughout the afternoon.
Jasiyah Crawford followed with 15 points, knocking down three crucial three-pointers. She also filled the stat sheet with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, making an impact on both ends of the court.
Nielle Reaves controlled the paint, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, providing Livingstone a steady interior presence.
For Johnson C. Smith, La'Niya Simes recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Salote Franklin added 10 points and 9 boards. Despite their efforts, JCSU struggled at the free‑throw line (4-of-13) and was unable to cut into the deficit late.
Although scoring slowed for both teams in the fourth quarter, Livingstone's early cushion proved crucial. The Blue Bears' defensive pressure and rebounding strength secured the rivalry win and added another key result in CIAA play.
The Lady Blue Bears will return to action on Tuesday, February 10th, when they travel to Winston-Salem State for a doubleheader. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
