WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — In a matchup filled with intensity, grit, and stretches of truly inspired basketball, the Lady Blue Bears came up short on the road, falling 76–60 to the Lady Rams on Tuesday evening inside the CE Gaines Center.
Livingstone came out swinging, taking the first quarter 19–15 behind confident shooting and active defense. The second frame was a back-and-forth battle as both teams heated up offensively, sending the Lady Blue Bears into halftime with a 39–36 lead.
Nielle Reaves led the charge once again, notching a 20-point double-double (20 pts, 10 rebs) while shooting an efficient 9-of-17 from the field. Jasiyah Crawford added 12 points, including two critical threes.
After three tightly contested periods, the fourth quarter ultimately became the turning point. The Lady Blue Bears went cold offensively, managing just 9 points, while Winston-Salem State surged with a 21-point frame. The Lady Rams capitalized on turnovers, second-chance opportunities, and timely three-point shooting to pull away late and secure the win.
Even so, Livingstone stayed composed, hit 87% of their free throws, competed on the boards, and showed the resilience of a team continuing to grow at the right time of the season.
Winston-Salem State was led by Breonna Roaf, who delivered a dominant 26-point performance on 9-of-11 shooting, including four makes from beyond the arc. Nevaeh Farmer followed with 19 points and five three-pointers, giving the Lady Rams a powerful scoring duo.
The Lady Blue Bears continue their road series as they head to Fayetteville State on Thursday, February 12th for another doubleheader. The women are set for 8 PM, and the men tip off at 6 PM.
