Raleigh, NC- Livingstone men's basketball battled throughout but could not slow down Shaw's offensive rhythm, falling 87–75 Thursday night inside Spaulding Gym.
Shaw set the tone early with six first-half three-pointers, building a 45–37 advantage at halftime. The Bears carried that momentum into the second half, shooting over 53% from the field and converting all seven of their free-throw attempts after the break.
The Blue Bears, however, showed depth and resilience, with 44 bench points fueling their offense.
Erick Coffey led Livingstone with 17 points, going 6-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 4‑for‑4 at the line.
Kenneth Tyree Jr. followed with 13 points and five assists, while
Jemez Herd Jr. added 12 points and six rebounds in an efficient night around the rim.
Livingstone also dominated the interior, scoring 42 points in the paint and snagging 18 offensive rebounds, which led to 23 second‑chance points.
Shaw countered with a balanced scoring attack led by Dreveon Scott's 21 points, followed by Isaiah Buckley with 17, and Avion Pinner's impactful 15‑point performance off the bench.
The Blue Bears return to action on February 7, when they travel to Johnson C. Smith University for a CIAA doubleheader at Brayboy Gym. The men will tip off first at 7:30 PM, preceded by the women at 5:30 PM.
