Kenyon Garner Named CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week for Second Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 29, 2025) – Week Four of CIAA football showcased explosive offenses, game-changing defensive efforts, and pivotal outcomes that are already shaping the championship race. Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, and Livingstone remained unbeaten in conference play, while Winston-Salem State and Johnson C. Smith picked up crucial bounce-back victories to stay in contention.

Livingstone 31, Lincoln (PA) 7
Livingstone delivered its most complete performance of the season, blending defensive dominance with efficient offense to stay perfect in CIAA competition. The Blue Bears raced to a 17–0 halftime lead and never looked back.

Defensive lineman Kenyon Garner continued his stellar campaign, earning his second consecutive Defensive Lineman of the Week honor. Garner recorded a sack, forced a fumble, and was a disruptive force throughout the game. Linebacker William Garner added two tackles and an interception, The unit set the tone early as the defense consistently gave Livingstone's offense short fields to work with.

Quarterback Elijah Alexander accounted for two touchdowns and managed the game with poise and confidence. Lincoln's only score came in the fourth quarter on a short touchdown pass from Hamas Duren, who finished with 137 passing yards but was hampered by an interception and relentless pressure from the Blue Bears' defense.

Kenyon Garner continued his dominant stretch with another standout performance that earned him Defensive Lineman of the Week honors. He was a disruptive force at the line of scrimmage, totaling six tackles (four solo), two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Garner's relentless pressure and ability to create chaos in the backfield anchored Livingstone's defense and set the tone for the Blue Bears' commanding win.
