Livingstone College’s Denis Asaba Selected for Prestigious Jackson T. Stephens Cup

Salisbury, NC — Livingstone College proudly announces that standout golfer Denis Asaba has been selected to compete in the fifth annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup, one of collegiate golf's most prestigious tournaments. The event will take place September 15–17 at Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, Illinois, and will be televised live on GOLF Channel.

Asaba is one of only twelve elite individual players invited from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and U.S. Military Service Academies to participate in the stroke play portion of the tournament. His selection places Livingstone College on a national stage, showcasing the talent and dedication of its student-athletes.

A Premier Collegiate Golf Event
The Jackson T. Stephens Cup pairs the nation's top NCAA Division I golf programs with world-class venues. This year's tournament features powerhouse teams including:
  • Men's Field: University of Texas (No. 3), LSU, University of North Carolina (2022 Champion), University of Arizona, Northwestern, and SMU
  • Women's Field: Stanford University (No. 1), Wake Forest, University of South Carolina, University of Oregon, University of Texas, and Northwestern
All participating teams are ranked within the top 30 nationally, with the women's field featuring six programs in the top 12.

Tournament Format & Broadcast Schedule

The competition includes 54 holes of stroke play over the first two days, followed by 18 holes of match play on the final day. Stroke play results will determine match play seeding, with the top four men's and women's teams advancing. Individual stroke-play medalists will be honored on Tuesday, September 16.

GOLF Channel Broadcast Times:
  • Monday, Sept. 15: 5–8 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday, Sept. 16: 4–7 p.m. ET
  • Wednesday, Sept. 17: 4–7 p.m. ET

A Historic Venue

This year's host, Shoreacres, is a classic Seth Raynor-designed course located along Lake Michigan. Known for its dramatic ravines and natural terrain, Shoreacres offers a unique challenge and a picturesque setting for the nation's top collegiate golfers.

About the Jackson T. Stephens Cup

Founded in 2021, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup honors the legacy of Jackson T. Stephens, former Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club. The tournament was created by
Warren A. Stephens, with Miles Stephens and John Stephens serving as co-chairs. The event celebrates sportsmanship, excellence, and the development of the next generation of elite golfers.
