DURHAM, N.C. (May 3, 2024)
– This past weekend Livingstone College men and women track & field team participated in the 2025 CIAA Track and Field Championship at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
The men's team secured 5th place overall with 72 points out of eight competing teams. Claflin University claimed 1st place with 150 points, followed by Virginia Union in 2nd with 143 points, Virginia State in 3rd with 93 points, and Johnson C. Smith in 4th with 91 points.
The Blue Bears excelled in 11 different categories, finishing in the top 20 in each event.
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Vince Coates finished 2nd with a time of 14.52 seconds, while
Joshua Demosthenes took 3rd with a time of 14.54 seconds. In the high jump, Jamir McCrae earned 2nd place with a leap of 2.09 meters. In the pole vault,
Quinn Barber also secured 2nd place with a mark of 3.60 meters, followed by
Anthony Sims in 3rd at 3.50 meters.
During the 4x400-meter relay, Livingstone College finished 4th with a time of 3:15.76. Representing the Blue Bears in the relay were

Ameer Burgman,
Hunter Howard, and
Trevor Hyman.
