Lady Blue Bears Fall to Bowie State, 74–65
Bowie, MD- The Lady Blue Bears battled hard on the road but came up short, falling to Bowie State 74–65.
Livingstone (1–8, 0–2 CIAA) kept the game competitive early, trailing by just one after the first quarter (15–14). However, Bowie State (7–2, 1–1 CIAA) used a strong second period, outscoring the Blue Bears 24–18, to take a 39–32 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs extended their advantage in the third quarter and held off a late Livingstone push in the fourth.
Ny'Asia Green led the Lady Blue Bears with 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers and adding five rebounds. Damaria Moree was a force inside, scoring 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and pulling down six boards. Off the bench, Nielle Reaves contributed 10 points and five rebounds, while Breasia Coit grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Livingstone shot 37.1% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc. Bowie State capitalized on turnovers, scoring 29 points off Livingstone's 19 miscues, and hit 85.7% of their free throws (18-of-21).
For Bowie State, Malaka Cobb paced the Bulldogs with 19 points, while Mia Smith added 15 and Kristin Sterling chipped in 12.
The Lady Blue Bears will continue their road swing on Thursday, December 18, when they travel to King University in Bristol, Tennessee. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
