Bowie, M.D.- In a tightly conference matchup tonight, Livingstone College faced off against Bowie State University but ultimately fell short, losing 31-17.
The game started off with Bowie State striking first when Alen Omerhodzic kicked a 30-yard field goal. They quickly extended their lead with a touchdown pass from Kevin Taylor to Antwain Banks, making it 10-0 after just the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Bowie continued to control the game with a 4-yard rushing touchdown from Taylor, increasing their lead to 17-0.
However, Livingstone responded in the third quarter.
JyMikaah Wells powered through for a 2-yard run, followed by Mohamed Nyanamukenga adding another touchdown with a 1-yard run. Suddenly, the score tightened to 14-17.
In the fourth quarter, Livingstone tied the game with a 48-yard field goal from
Jason Zapata, making it 17-17. But Bowie wasn't finished. Taylor connected with a receiver for a 34-yard touchdown pass, regaining the lead at 24-17.
With time running out, Bowie sealed their victory with a 3-yard touchdown run from Maximus Jones, bringing the final score to 31-17. Despite a valiant effort from Livingstone, they couldn't keep pace with Bowie's explosive offense.
The Blue Bears continue their road game series as they head to Lincoln University, on Saturday, Sept 28, kickoff set for 1pm.
