Livingstone Softball Plays Host to Fayetteville State

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Blue Bears were back home Friday afternoon for a pair of CIAA matchups against Fayetteville State. The bats got going early in both games, however Livingstone were unable to come out on top, dropping the first game 5-3, before falling 3-1 in the second.

Game One
After falling behind 2-0 early, Khala Porter managed to get on base and score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit to one. One inning later, Cianna Bullock lined a double to left center field that scored Rylee Watson and knotted the game at two. Sinai Cisneros followed up Bullock by finding open grass over the shortstop's head for an RBI single.

Livingstone carried the lead into the seventh inning but were unable to hold onto the lead, as a seventh-inning comeback by the Broncos saw them re-gain the lead and hold on for the 5-3 victory.

Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader was a story of both defenses. The Blue Bears managed to strike first, as a sacrifice groundout by Bullock in the bottom of the first helped Watson cross the plate and give Livingstone a 1-0 lead. Starting pitcher Ailani Brown pitched a strong first six innings, holding Fayetteville State scoreless in that span while striking out five.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Broncos managed a few well-placed hits that saw them take the lead back ftrom Livingstone. The Blue Bears were unable to strike back, falling 3-1 and dropping the second game.
