Softball Falls on the Last Day of The CIAA Roundup to Elizabeth City State and Bowie State Universiity

ELIZABETH CITY, North Carolina – The Livingstone College Softball team (1-10) fell to Elizabeth City State University and Bowie State University on day three of the CIAA softball Round-up Saturday afternoon.

vs. Elizabeth City State: 

The Blue Bears struck first when Madalyn Payne reached on an error by the second baseman and Jada Starr-Wilson scored. The Vikings recorded eight runs in the next six innings, which included two home runs. 

Stephanie Barksdale (0-2) picked up the loss after striking out four batters and allowing 16 hits and 16 runs in 7.0 innings pitched.  

The Vikings went on to score eight more runs in the seventh inning, including two more home runs. 

vs. Bowie State:

The Blue Bears struggled to get something started on the offensive end. 

Jada Starr-Wilson went 1-for-3 from the plate. Madalyn Payne went 1-for-3 from the dish. Cameran Jordan-Ruffin went 1-for- from the plate, and reached second base.  

Madalyn Payne (0-5) picked up the loss, striking out two, allowing nine hits and eight runs in 4.0 innings pitched. Khala Porter released Payne at the mound allowing two hits and three runs in 1.0 innings pitched.  

Third Basemen Nyla Lowery had four putouts along with first baseman Stephanie Barksdale with four.

The Blue Bears will host Carolina Univesity Tuesday, March 28 in Salisbury, North Carolina for their first home game of the season.
