Jamiah Lane Leads With 15 in Loss to Fayetteville State

SALISBURY – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team fell to Fayetteville State University Thursday evening in New Trent Gym, 80-68. 

The Blue Bears drop to (9-16,3-10), and The Broncos improve to (15-6,11-2). 

Jamiah Lane led the Blue Bears with 15 points and six rebounds. Alexis Lake followed with 12 points. 

The Bronocs Aniylah Bryant led with 25 points. Imani Elliott followed with 17 points. Keayna McLaughlin finished with 13 points.

Livingstone shot 40.4% from the field (23-57) and 66.7% from the free-throw line (18-27).

The Blue Bears return to action Saturday, February 11, hosting Johnson C. Smith University. First tip is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Blue Bears took an early 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Bears and the Broncos then played an even second quarter making the halftime score 38-29 in favor of Livingstone.

The Broncos started the third quarter on a 5-0 run, cutting the Blue Bears lead to four, 38-34 with 8:31 to go. The Blue Bears were outscored in the third quarter 24-17, allowing the Broncos to get within two by the end of the third quarter, 55-53.

The Broncos tied it up at 56 to begin the fourth quarter. Fayetteville then went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 63-56 with 7:07 left in the game. 

As a result of the Blue Bears turnovers, the Broncos continued to extend their lead and went on to secure the win. 

The Blue Bears ended the night with 29 bench points versus the Broncos 28. The Broncos had a total of 28 points off of the Blue Bears 25 turnovers. 

Livingstone outrebounded Fayetteville 36-35.
