Jamiah Lane Scores Season High In a 62-60 Victory Over Johnson C. Smith on Senior Day

SALISBURY – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team defeated Johnson C. Smith University Saturday afternoon in New Trent Gym, 62-60. 

The Blue Bears improve to (10-16,4-10), and The Golden Bulls drop to (9-14,5-9). 

Jamiah Lane led the Blue Bears with a season-high of 20 points. Alyssa Boyce followed with 10 points. 

The Golden Bulls NiAmoni Bagley led with 13 points. Jill Harris and Tori Reid both followed with 12 points. Reid also had 10 rebounds. 

Livingstone shot 39.3% from the field (22-56) and 63.0% from the free-throw line (17-27).

The Blue Bears return to action Wednesday, February 15, as they travel to St. Augustine's University.

The Blue Bears took an early 21-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Bears and the Golden Bulls then played an even second quarter making the halftime score 30-27 in favor of Johnson C. Smith.

The Golden Bulls started the third quarter by adding to their lead with a jumper by Shaniya Jones, extending their lead to five, 32-27 with 8:28 to go. The Golden Bulls were outscored in the third quarter 15-10, allowing them to take the lead by the end of the third quarter, 40-42.

The Blue Bears took a seven-point lead with 6:01 left in the fourth quarter. 

As a result of the Blue Bears defense, the Golden Bulls never regained the lead, and the Blue Bears went on to secure the win. 

The Blue Bears ended the night with 19 bench points versus the Golden Bulls 15. The Blue Bears dominated the paint with 42 points in the paint versus the Golden Bulls 34.

Livingstone outrebounded Johnson C. Smith 35-33.
