Khyree Temples Hits Buzzer-Beater in 67-65 Overtime Victory Against Fayetteville State

SALISBURY – Khyree Temple made a jump shot with two seconds left in overtime to give Livingstone a 67-65 victory over Fayetteville State on Thursday evening in New Trent Gym.

The Blue Bears improve to (10-12, 6-7) in the season, while Fayetteville State University drops to (13-12, 8-5).  

Livingstone was led by Khyree Temple with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Recording his second double-double of the season. Pharoah Lassiter finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  

Fayetteville State University was paced by Tyler Foster with 17 points. Cress Worthy followed with 15 points. Kaleb Coleman finished with 10 points.  

The Broncos jump out to a 25-15 lead over the Blue Bears with 7:46 left in the first half. The Blue Bears cut the Broncos lead to seven with 5:43 to go, 28-21. Khalil Ridges fouled Khyree Temple, sending him to the line for two. Temple made one of two but the Broncos still held a 40-29 lead at the half. 

The Broncos continued to add to their lead at the beginning of the second half by going on a 6-0 run. The Blue Bears worked their way back into the game after being down by 16. With :03 left in the game, two good free throws by Pharoah Lassiter tied it up at 62 and sent the game into overtime. 

The Blue Bears outlasted the Broncos in overtime and secured the game at the final buzzer.

Livingstone would end the game shooting 38.7% (24-of-62). Fayetteville State would make 19 of 63 overall for 30.2 percent. 

The Broncos shot 75.0% from the free-throw line (21 out of 28). The Blue Bears went 66.7% from the free-throw line 16-of-24.

Livingstone outrebounded Fayetteville State, 54-29.

The Blue Bears will host Johnson C. Smith University Saturday, February 11. The first tip is set for 4:00 p.m.
