ELIZABETH CITY, North Carolina – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team fell to Elizabeth City State University Thursday evening in the R.L. Vaughan Center, 77-49.
The Blue Bears drop to (4-8,0-4) and The Vikings improve to (8-2,2-2).
Jamiah Lane led the Blue Bears with 12 points.
The Vikings Sirenna Pitts led with 15 points. Maryam Hashim finished with 13 points.
Livingstone shot 36.2% from the field (17-47) and 42.9% from the free-throw line.
The Blue Bears return to action Sunday, January 8 when they travel to Virginia State University. The first tip is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
Jamiah Lane hit a three-pointer halfway through the first quarter to tie the game up at 6-6. The Vikings regained the lead with a good free throw by Sirenna Pitta, 7-6. The Vikings extended their lead to seven by the end of the first quarter, 17-10. The Blue Bears couldn't get a shot to fall at the beginning of the second quarter. The Vikings held a 29-10 lead over the Blue Bears with 3:50 left before halftime. Jamiah Lane hit a jumper in the paint to cut the Viking's lead to 13 with :06 left in the second quarter, 31-18. The Vikings extended their lead right before halftime with
a layup by Akyia King, 35-18.
The Vikings took a 20-point lead at the six-minute mark in the third quarter, 41-21.
The Blue Bears had 11 points off of the Viking's turnovers. The Vikings had 34 bench points versus the Blue Bears' 17.
Elizabeth City had 28 points in the paint versus Livingstone's 24.
