The Blue Bears Top Morris College in Non-Conference Match-Up

SALISBURY – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team defeated Morris College in a non-conference match-up Tuesday evening in New Trent Gym, 90-34. 

The Blue Bears improve to (7-12,2-7), and The Hornets fall to (0-7). 

Bria Griffith led the Blue Bears with 17 points and 14 rebounds, recording her first double-double this season. Jardyn Alexander followed with 12 points and eight rebounds. 

Sha'Terra Ferrell finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Ny'Asia Green finished the night with six assists. 

The Hornets Jayce Williams led with 14 points and eight rebounds. Followed by Taren Dubose with 12 points.

Livingstone shot 43.7% from the field (38-87) and 61.1% from the free-throw line (11-18).

The Blue Bears return to action Thursday, January 26, hosting St. Augustine's University. The first tip is set for 5:30 p.m. ET. 

The Hornets scored their first point off a technical foul on the Blue Bears. Livingstone then went on an 11-0 run. Samiyah Briggs hit a three at the end of the first quarter, putting the Blue Bears up by 21, 24-3.

Livingstone scored 18 bench points in the third quarter. The Blue Bears worked the paint with 14 points in the third quarter. The Blue Bears extended their lead by 30 at halftime, 42-12.

A layup by Thalia Carter gave the Blue Bears a 40-point lead with 2:07 left in the third quarter, 59-19.

Taren Dubose hit a jumper at the end of the third quarter to keep the Blue Bears lead at 40, 64-24.

The Blue Bear bench was hot in the fourth quarter with 26 points. Livingstone stayed hot in the paint collecting 26 points in the fourth quarter. A layup by Kayley Woodruff gave the Blue Bears a 50-point lead with 5:49 left in the fourth quarter, 76-26. 

The Blue Bears had 44 points off the Hornets' 30 turnovers. The Blue Bears had 73 bench points.

Livingstone outrebounded Morris 70-29.
