Women's Basketball Gets Outlasted by Lincoln University

SALISBURY – The Livingstone Women's Basketball fell to Lincoln University Saturday evening in the New Trent Gym, 66-77. 

The Blue Bears drop to (4-7,0-2) and The Lions improve to (6-6,1-1).

Thalia Carter led the Blue Bears with 14 points. Followed by Sha'Terra Ferrell with 13 points. 

The Lions Kania Pollock led with 21 points. Anyssa Fields recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. 

Jaleesa Lanier Isis Triplett both finished with 10 points. 

Livingstone shot 43.1% from the field (22-51) and 72.7% from the free-throw line.   

The Blue Bears return to action Monday, December 19 when they host Virginia Union University. The first tip is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.   

The Lions took an early seven point lead in the first quarter, 14-7. 

Thalia Carter completed a three point play to put the Blue Bears within two with :13 left in the first quarter, 20-18. Isis Triplett went to the line for Lincoln scoring the last two of the quarter, 22-18.

The Lions continued to add to their lead in the third quarter. Taking a eight-point lead with 2:52 left in the second quarter, 34-26. Alexis Lake scored the last two of the basket quarter, making one of two from the free throw line, but the Blue Bears trailed going into halftime, 38-32.

Livingstone had 34 bench points opposed to the Lions' 28. The Lions outrebounded the Blue Bears 37-30. 

Lincoln outworked Livingstone in the paint, 38-26. 

Sha'Terra Ferrell scored the first four of the third quarter to cut the Lions lead to one, 38-37. The Blue Bears could not gain a lead in the third quarter. Kania Pollock hit a jumper at the end of the third quarter to extend the Lions lead to nine, 55-46.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Lions as they extended their lead by 18 in the fourth quarter. Samiyah Briggs took the last shot to end the fourth quarter.
