GAFFNEY, South Carolina – The Livingstone Women's Basketball team fell to Limestone University Monday evening in the Timken Center, 91-74.
The Blue Bears drop to 4-5, and The Saints improve to 6-5.
Thalia Carter led the Blue Bears with 14 points. Followed by Alexis Lake with 13 points and nine rebounds. Briana Chambers had 11 points. Ny'Asia Green finished with 10 points.
The Saints Kalisha Hill led with 22 points. Quin Byrd finished with 20. Reagan McCray had 19 points. Reagan Kargo finished with 17 points.
Livingstone shot 38.1% from the field (24-63) and 70.4% from the free-throw line.
The Blue Bears return to action Thursday, December 15 when they host Bowie State University to open up conference play. The first tip is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
The Blue Bears and the Saints were all tied up in the first quarter at 17 at the two-minute mark The Saints held a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Bears tied it back up early in the second quarter with a three-pointer by Samiyah Briggs, 25-25. Bria Griffith hit a three with :35 left in the second quarter to tie it up at halftime, 42-42.
Livingstone had 38 bench points opposed to the Saints' 26. The Blue Bears were outrebounded 37-34.
Limestone scored 22 points off of turnovers. The Saints outworked the Blue Bears in the paint with 38 points versus the 22 for the Blue Bears.
The Blue Bears never took a lead over the saints but with 4:25 left in the third quarter, Alexis Lake completed a layup to tie it up, 54-54.
After another tie up, with 1:53 left in the third quarter, the Saints took off and took an 11-point lead at the end of the quarter, 69-58.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Saints as the Blue Bears never tied it back up or gained a lead.
