Women's Basketball Tops the University of Fort Lauderdale in Third Straight Home Win

SALISBURY – The Livingstone Women's Basketball topped the University of Fort Lauderdale Tuesday evening in New Trent Gymnasium, 100-42. 

The Blue Bears improve to 3-3, and The Eagles drop to 1-4.

Andresia Alexander and Alyssa Boyce led the Blue Bears with 15 points and five rebounds each. Followed by Ny'Asia with 14 points. Jamiah Lane was just short of a double-double, finishing the evening with 12 points and eight rebounds. Samiyah Briggs ended with 11 points and seven rebounds. 

The Eagles Charlotte Leurs finished with 20 points.  

Livingstone shot 48.8% from the field (39-80) and 55.0% from the free-throw line.   

The Blue Bears return to action Thursday, December 1 when they travel to Paine College for a 6:00 p.m. ET tip-off.   

Briana Chambers hit a jumper to tie the game up at eight with 4:14 to go. Andresia Alexander knocked down three to extend the Blue Bears' lead by five, 16-11. Tyra Wright answered with two to cut the Blue Bears lead, 16-13 with 1:32 left in the first quarter. The Eagles would get the last shot of the first quarter but still trailed the Blue Bears by four. 

Jamiah Lane added to the Blue Bears' lead to open up the second quarter with a layup in the paint, 20-14. The Blue Bears took a 20-plus lead at the three-minute mark with two good free throws by Alyssa Boyce, 44-23.

The Blue Bears closed out the second quarter scoring 19 points off of turnovers and scoring 24 points off the bench. 

Varvara Papakonstantinou put the Blue Bears up by 30 to begin the third quarter with a jumper in the paint, 58-28. With 1:41 left in the third quarter, Samiyah Briggs stepped back to set up to hit a three-pointer, giving the Blue Bears a 40-point plus lead, 75-33.

Alyssa Boyce ended the third quarter with a three-pointer adding to the Blue Bears 40-point plus lead, 80-33.

With :11 to go Andresia Alexander hit a fade away jumper, scoring the 100th point for the Blue Bears.

Livingstone scored 52 points off of turnovers. The Blue Bears scored 27 points off of second-chance points

Livingstone's bench dominated with 62 points.
