Women's Basketball Drops Road Game to Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina – The Livingstone Women's Basketball fell on the road to the University of Mount Olive Saturday afternoon in Kronegay Arena, 74-48. 

The Blue Bears drop to 2-3, and The Trojans improve to 2-3.

Ny'Asia Green led Livingstone with 10 points. Varvara Papakonstantinou led the Blue Bears in rebounds with nine. 

The Trojans' Laila Harris finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Followed by Kaia Simpson with 15 points and eight rebounds. Makayla Kimble had 12 points. Reagan Hune and Taylor Haynes both ended the game with 10 points and five rebounds. 

Livingstone shot 44.3% from the field (27-61) and 69.6% from the free-throw line.   

The Blue Bears return to action Saturday, November 29 when they host the Univesity of Fort Lauderdale at 5:30 p.m. ET.  

Mount Olive jumped out to an early 6-0 lead over Livingstone after Kaia Simoson hit a jumper. Briana Chambers gave the Blue Bears their first two with a layup in the paint. 

The Trojans would go on a 10-0 run. Andresia Alexander ended the scoreless streak for the Blue Bears at the two-minute mark with a layup in the paint. Destiny Marcus hit the last jumper of the half to cut the Trojans' lead by 12, 20-8.

Kaia Simpson hit a three for the Trojans to start the second quarter, 23-8. Alexis Lakes completed two good free throws at the five-minute mark to get the Blue Bears within 15. The Trojans extended their lead by 25 with two good free throws by Taylor Haynes, 43-17. Andresia Alexander scored the last basket before the half to cut the Trojans' lead to 22.  

Ny'Aisa Green drained a three to begin the third quarter, 45-19. Andresia Alexander fouled Reagan Hune, sending Hune to the line for two. Hune completed both and put the Trojans back up by 21. The Blue Bears couldn't close the Trojans 20 point-plus lead before the end of the third, 59-32. Early in the fourth quarter, the Trojans Maleiya Hill gave them a 30-point plus lead, 63-32. Bria Griffith cut the Trojans' lead to 22 with 3:21 left in the fourth quarter, 67-45. Another foul by Alexander would send Taylor Haynes to the line for two, ending the game. 

Livingstone gave up 33 points off of turnovers. The Blue Bears scored 13 points off of second chance points.  

Livingstone's bench dominated with 25 points.
