RALEIGH, North Carolina – The Livingstone College bowling team got behind early but found their groove on their way to winning the last game of the day against Shaw University on Friday at the CIAA Event I in Raleigh.
"The ladies fought back and won the last game of the day," said coach Steve Wallace "The ladies showed heart."
The Blue Bears ended day one (1-4), with a victory over Shaw University (657-642). Livingstone was down 80 pins and four out of the five Blue Bears hit a mark in the 10th frame.
Carrington Hayward hit two strikes in a row to put the Blue Bears on top. Christina Pounds also helped the Blue Bears with a strike in game five.
The Blue Bears fell in the first four games. The first game to Fayetteville State University (770-555). Game two was against Shaw University (660-587). The Blue Bears bowled all in the 100s in game three but fell to Johnson C. Smith (730-572).
The fourth game was promising as well but it just wasn't enough to defeat the Broncos (749-636).
