RALEIGH, North Carolina – Livingstone Volleyball (0-13,0-10) a 3-0 decision (15-25, 20-25, 18-25) to Bowie State University (7-8, 4-6) Sunday afternoon at C.C Spaulding Gym.
Livingstone ht .043. The Blue Bears recorded 25 kills and 19 assists, five aces, one blocks, and registered 29 digs.
Bowie State hit .263.
The Bulldogs hit 38 kills in the match with 29 assists, seven aces, and five blocks.
Taylor Grant led the Blue Bears with eight kills. While Bethaney Williams finished with eight digs. Dekiya Wilson-Thomas registered 12 assists.
Set 1
- The Blue Bears held an ealry lead over the Bulldogs by going on a 6-0 run, 9-7.
- The Bulldogs came to take a three point lead over the Blue Bears, 13-9.
- The Blue Bears had a few 3-0 runs, but couldn't close the 10-point gap.
- Ultimately, the Bulldogs took set one, 25-15.
Set 2
- The Blue Bears went up early with three straight errors by the Bulldogs.
- The Bulldogs quickly went on a 3-0 run to tie it up, 3-3.
- The Blue Bears took another lead with a kill by Arliya Bennerman, 10-8.
- The Bulldogs tied it up once again an took the lead in the same run, 13-10.
- The Blue Bears cut the lead by one with a kill by Taylor Grant and an error by the Bulldogs.
- The Bulldogs went up by five after a 4-0 run, 17-12.
- The Blue Bears tried to regain the lead, but onl got within thre before the Bulldogs pulled away.
- The Bulldogs closed out set two with two straight errors by the Blue Bears.
Set 3
- The Bulldogs quickly on a 7-0 run to start the set.
- The Blue Bears fought back to get within four of the Bulldogs, 20-16.
- A 3-0 run put the Bulldogs within two of winning the match, 23-16.
- The Blue Bears didnn't give up, scoring two in a row, 23-18.
- Ultimately, the Bulldogs closed out set three to win the match.
