Volleyball Falls in Three to Johnson C. Smith

SALISBURY – Livingstone Volleyball (0-15,0-12) a 3-0 decision (20-25, 23-25, 17-25) to Johnson C. Smith University (5-11, 3-8) Monday evening at New Trent Gym.

Livingstone ht .149. The Blue Bears recorded 33 kills and 29 assists, eight aces, three blocks, and registered 41 digs. 

Johnson C. Smith hit .200.

The Golden Bulls hit 28 kills in the match with 24 assists, six aces, and five blocks. 

Tiffany Chandler led the Blue Bears with eight kills, and five digs. Following Chandler was Taylor Grant with seven kills, five digs, and one block. While Ja'Nya Lumnermon finished with 13 digs. Aubree Reyes registered 13 assists and Dekiya Wilson-Thomas recorded 11 assists.   

Set 1

  • The Golden Bulls went up 12-9 after a few 3-0 runs to start the set.  
  • The Blue Bears took the lead with a 6-0 run, 15-12.
  • The Golden Bulls would tie it up 16-16 with an error by the Blue Bears.
  • The Blue Bears and the Golden Bulls continued to trade leads.  
  • Ultimately, the Golden Bulls took set one, 25-20.

Set 2

  • The Golden Bulls started set two with a 5-0 run over the Blue Bears. 
  • Another 4-0 run would put the Golden Bulls up by seven, 9-2. 
  • The Blue Bears battled back to cut the Golden Bull's lead to three, 13-10.
  • The Golden Bulls went another 5-0 run to extend their lead by eight, 18-10.
  • An upward climb and a huge kill by Taylor Grant would get the Blue Bears within one, 21-20.
  • The Golden Bulls went on a short 3-0 run to reach set point, 24-20. 
  • The Blue Bears answered with a 3-0 run of their own to put them within one, 24-23.  
  • A service error by the Blue Bears would give the Golden Bulls their final point.  

Set 3

  • The Golden Bulls went up early in set three, 7-1. 
  • The Blue Bears fought back to cut the Golden Bull's lead by one, 12-11.
  • A 5-0 run by the Golden Bulls extended their lead by 6, 17-11. 
  • The Blue Bears had a couple of short runs, but it wasnt enough to secure a win over the Golden Bulls.
