ETTRICK, VA - Roger Ray and Lydell Elmore combined for 38 points but it wasn't enough to overcome a 50 point first half for Virginia State as the Trojans topped the Blue Bears 82-67 to earn a regular season split. The two teams went into double overtime on December 5 with Livingstone winning the shootout 128-122 in Salisbury.
Fifty percent (19 of 38) shooting from the field along with 42 percent shooting (5 of 12) from behind the arc propelled the Trojans to a 26 point lead at halftime.
LC never recovered despite outscoring the Trjans 43-32 in the second half.
With the loss, Livingstone falls to 8-6. CIAA 4-3 while Virginia State improves to 10-5, CIAA 3-1.
LC continues its extended road trip when they travel to face Elizabeth City State on Thursday Jan 9.
