Women's Basketball Rolls Past SU, 100-58

SALISBURY - The Livingstone College women's basketball team held visiting Shaw to just 15 first-half points (two in the second quarter) and limited the Bears to just 43.4% shooting and led in a 100-58 win in CIAA action on Saturday afternoon in New Trent Gym.

LC wasted no time in jumping on the Bears, establishing a 20-6 lead. SU cashed in their first basket in double digits with just 59 seconds left in the quarter, making it 31-11.

In the second, the Lady Blue Bears took the 40-13 lead after a Daisa Harris layup with 5:13 on the clock.  Following Shaw's only jumper of the second quarter by Caylie Hartman, the Lady Blue Bears' Kedra Bradley dropped a three pointer to provide the 5-15 halftime margin.

In the third quarter, LC steadily padded their lead, pushing it to 69-19 after a layup from Harris. Another basket by Harris closed out the quarter, making it 78-39.

The Lady Blue Bears would then gain their largest lead of the game at 46 points (97-51) after Asia Green drilled a three-pointer with 3:50 to play. SU would never get the LC lead to less than 41 points the rest of the way as LC took the 100-58 win.

Harris claimed her first career high for the Blue Bears with team-highs in points (41) and steals (6), Bradley added 15 for LC while Adel Allen and Darra Walker scored 12 and Green finished with 10.

SU's Macy Keen and KlinTisha Martin were the only Bears to score in double-figures with 24 and 11.

The win improves LC to 7-16 overall and -9 in CIAA play while SU sinks to 6-18 and 1-13 in league play.

LC will jump back into CIAA Southern Division play on Wednesday, visiting Fayetteville State at 5:30 p.m. at Capel Arena.
