Cold Shooting dooms Lady Blue Bears in loss to Fayetteville State

After shooting 53% in the first period resulting in a six point lead, Livingstone's women's basketball team got cold in the second and third periods falling to Fayetteville State 83-63 Monday evening at Capel Arena in Fayetteville.

LC led 19-13 at the end of the first period but FSU nearly doubled the offensive output of the Lady Blue Bears in the second and third periods to cruise to a 20-point win.

Livingstone led by as many as 13 points in the contest but FSU turned up the defense, forcing tunovers and converting them to easy baskets.

The Lady Blue Bears shot just 18% from the field in the third quarter making just three of their 17 attempts.

Livingstone was led ty Daijah Turner with 22 points. Victoria Onozie chalked up a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Darra Walker finished with 10 points.

Fayetteville State was led by Alyssa Thompson with 19 points followed by Shantel Bennett with 16 points and five assists. Katisha Hyman recorded 15 points while handing out four assists. Aminata Johnson came off the bench to add 14 points to the Lady Broncos' ledger.

With the win, FSU improves to 3-5, CIAA 2-0.

Livingstone falls to 3-5, CIAA 1-3

The Lady Blue Bears return to action Monday (Dec 16) when they travel to Maryland to fact the lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. at the A.C. Jordan Arena.
