Blue Bears Falls to Shaw, 96-61

RALEIGH — Shaw University snapped Livingstone College's five game win streak on Monday night, as the Blue Bears fall to the Bears, 96-61 in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Southern Division battle inside Spaulding Gymnasium.
 
It was a very intense first half as both teams shot the lights out in the gym. Shaw held a 31-28 lead after first half. By the 14:45 mark of the second half, Livingstone was down 20.
 
From the field LC shot 39.3 percent hitting 11 of 28 and 0 of 4 from the 3-point line. Shaw connecting 10 of 13 from long distance as the Bears accounted for 22 of 33 shots, 66.7 percent.

The Blue Bears were out-rebounded 48-32.

Roger Ray was the lone Blue Bear to score in double figures with 24 points.

Shaw's Amir Hinton had a game-high 28 points while DaVaughn Kelsie chipped in 18 points. 
 
The win gives Shaw at 9-10 overall record and 4-6 in CIAA play while Livingstone falls to 12-7 on the season and 5-5 in league play. In the Southern Division standings, LC is 3-1, while the Bears are 3-2.
 
Livingstone travels back to Raleigh to face St. Augustine's University on Wednesday.
