Harris scores 25 against Claflin, but LC falls to Panthers, 66-59

SALISBURY - Livingstone College women's basketball team went toe for toe with Claflin University, but in the final quarter the Panthers took control in the fourth quarter on their way to an 66-59 CIAA Southern Division win at New Trent Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Daisa Harris was the lone Lady Blue Bear to score in double figures for the game. She registered 10 of 20 from the field on her way to scoring 25 points.  She also hauled in five rebounds on the night.  Adel Allen scored eight points for LC.

Livingstone started hot from long range, as five of their first six field goals in the first quarter were from long range.  In the quarter, the Lady Blue Bears were able to build a five point cushion at the 4:54 mark when Allen buried a long ball, making it 11-6.  Claflin trimmed the lead to 19-18 after a layup to drop with two seconds before the first quarter buzzer.

CU was able to make a move in the second quarter by up 22-19. LC's Kyala Searcy then stepped back and drilled a three pointer, to put LC up two. Claflin went into the break with a layup as time expired at the break.

In the fourth quarter, the game was tied at 56 all with 2:28 remaining.   The Panthers would go on a 10-3 run, with CU earning the 59-66 win.

In the loss, LC falls to 3-14 overall, 0-7 in CIAA play and 0-1 in Southern Division action while CU improves to 11-8, 8-4 CIAA, 5-2 Southern Division.
