Livingstone falls to FSU on last second three pointer, 71-68

SALISBURY - In the closing seconds of a tie game, Fayetteville State's Brittney Drumgoole three point jumper with four seconds left, lifting the Lady Broncos to an 71-68 victory over CIAA southern division opponent Livingstone College on Wednesday night, in New Trent Gym.

The Lady Blue Bears lead with four minutes remaining in the game 64-59 late in the fourth quarter (3:42) until Fayetteville State hits a three-pointer to tie the game at 64 and then take a two point lead 66-64 with 2:10 remaining. The Lady Broncos would extend the lead to four 68-64 before the Lady Blue Bears went to the free throw line.

Livingstone's Daisa Harris scored a basket in the paint and nailed a pair of free throws to tie the game again 68-68 with 16 seconds left.

As time winded down for FSU, Drumgoole dribble to the top of the key for the last second shot to seal the win.

Livingstone missed a halfcourt try as the final buzzer sounded.

Harris scored 26 for Livingstone (3-15). Darra Walker added 22 points.

Livingstone was 19 of 22 from the free throw line, while Fayetteville State went 13 of 14. The Lady Blue Bears shot only 33.3 percent from the field, while Fayetteville State made 41.5 percent in a rugged game.

Livingstone hosts I-85 rival Johnson C. Smith on Saturday.
