LC Takes 102-91 win over Chowan

SALISBURY -  The Livingstone College men's basketball team bounced back from a CIAA loss to Virginia State by putting together a big second half to down visiting Chowan, 102-91 on Monday night at New Trent Gym.

After leading by just a two points, 48-46 at halftime, the Blue Bears steadily built a double-digit cushion, by going on a 10-0 run to start the second half 56-46.

After Chowan cut the lead to nine points (62-53), LC surged again, this time going up by a 69-53 count after Martel Handley's jumper with 12:09 left.  LC would then put the game away, to 16, 87-71, with back-to-back three-pointers from Roger Ray and Cameron Carpenter.

Chowan would cut the deficit to 10, 91-81, with a three-pointer with 5:16 to play, however sending the Blue Bears to the line would seal the game.

LC shot 47.9% from the field on a 34-of-72 outing and hit 9-of-25 from three-point range, good for 36.7%. 

Individually, Ray scored a 28 points and dished out 10 dimes for LC.  Malik Smith finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Carpenter had 12 points.

The win improves LC to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in CIAA play while Chowan dips to 10-4, 3-3 in league play.
