Catawba WBB defeats Livingstone, 83-57

SALISBURY — For the first time since 2015 Livingstone and Catawba met on the hardwood, but Catawba came out winning 83-57 on Wednesday night in women's basketball.

The Lady Blue Bears got off on a quick start when Daisa Harris dropped a three pointer to put Livingstone up, however Catawba made a lay-up with 5:46 left in the opening period to cut the deficit to 7-5.

Catawba (4-3) outscored the Lady Blue Bears 29-13 over the rest of the period and led 34-20, after the first 10 minutes of play. Catawba went on a 15-4 run to end the first period.

Livingstone was cold from the floor shooting 19-of-61, 12.5 percent from the field, including 3-of-24, 31.1 percent from long range, and was outrebounded by the Indians 49-35.

Junior Daisa Harris paced Livingstone (3-5) with a game high 22 points while guard Adel Allen scored 15.

Talia Barnes led the Indians with 19 points and Taisha DeShazo contributed 16 points and nine rebounds.

Livingstone College begins conference play on Dec. 15, after exam to visit Virginia Union.
