Blue Bears Falls in Double OT, 91-89

CHARLOTTE - Lenior-Rhyne put back lay-up with 1.9 seconds on the clock lifted the Bears to a 91-89 double OT win over the Livingstone College Blue Bears, at the JCSU Tip-Off Challenge host by Johnson C. Smith University, at Brayboy Gym on Friday evening.

Neither team could gain a large advantage throughout the game, as the largest lead came at the 12:03 mark of the first half when LC led 16-9. LR would cut the LC cushion to 22-21 with 7:46 in the opening half and would then take the lead one possession later after a jumper made it 25-22. After LC reclaimed the lead at the 3:57 mark leading 28-25. LC's Roger Ray three free throws would gain the lead for the Blue Bears at halftime 1:07 left.

The second half was much like the first, as the teams swapped the lead throughout. LR would go up 41-33 at the 16:25 mark after a Darius Simmons basket.

LC's Ray would score five straight points to give the Blue Bears the 73-73 all tie lead with 34 seconds to play, got a jumper to fall to provide the 73-73 tie at the end of regulation.

LC had three players score in double figures. Ray had 22 points, while Lydell Elmore scored 18. Malik Smith had 11 points and Kenny Grant and Damante McNeill each chipped in 10 points

The Blue Bears falls to 2-2, while Lenoir-Rhyne is 4-0.
