LC MBB Gets one on road winning, 75-62

ELIZABETH CITY — Livingstone's men's basketball team shut down Elizabeth City State and held them to 20 points in the second half, and came away with the 75-62 win on Monday night in Elizabeth City.
 
Lydell Elmore scored a career high 19 points, while teammates Roger Ray had 13 points and nine assists, and Ramel Belfield scored 12 for the Blue Bears.
 
The Blue Bears went into halftime with a three point lead, 45-42. The Blue Bears shot under 38.7 percent from the field, 10 percent from behind the arc, and 45.5 percent from the free-throw line. ECSU (7-9, 3-6) shot 28.6 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the arc, and 36.4 percent from the foul line during the second half;
 
Livingstone (7-9, 5-5 CIAA) shot 50.8 percent from the floor and controlled the glass in the second half, grabbing twice as many boards as the Vikings. For the game, 25 percent from the arc, and 50 percent from the line, while ECSU shot 39.2 percent from the floor, 54.5 percent from downtown, and 52.6 percent from behind the line.
 
Livingstone led by as many 14 points during the second half; while outshooting the Vikings 42-14 in points in the paint, 22-11 points off turnovers, 12-10 in second chance points, 14-2 in fast break points, and 26-19 in bench points. The game saw eight ties and 12 lead changes.
 
The Blue Bears host Southern Division rival Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 4:00 p.m.
