Blue Bears and Golden Bulls Battle on the Hardwood
SALISBURY - Livingstone College ventures to Brayboy Gymnasium to take on Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA basketball doubleheader in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The men's contest begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Blue Bears visit the Golden Bulls in a pivotal men's contest. The Blue Bears are 1-1 in the Southern Division play while JCSU is 2-0.
Livingstone defeated the home-standing Broncos, 78-62, as Cameron Burhannon, Rashard Todd and Roger Ray combined to score 49 points. Todd, a 6-8 senior, contributed 11 of his 15 points during the first half.
Ray, a sophomore guard, saved his best for the second half, scoring nine of his 14 points in the last 20 minutes.
Coach James Stinson's Blue Bears improved to 6-7 overall and 4-3 in the CIAA.
Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team started the game on an 18-2 run and handily defeated visiting St. Augustine's University 74-49 in a CIAA Southern Division game at Brayboy Gym on Saturday. Christian Kirchman led the way for JCSU, scoring 20 points while dishing nine assists. He also managed five assists and added a rebound. .
This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
