MBB Host VUU in CIAA Opener
SALISBURY –The Livingstone College men's basketball team will start conference play at home on Saturday, Dec. 16, welcoming Panthers of Virginia Union University to the William J. Trent Gymnasium for a 4:00 p.m. tip.
Livingstone (1-4, 0-2) enters Saturday's contest after falling to Lander University last Saturday, on the road. As a team, the Blue Bears average 77.2 points per contest; while shooting .448 percent from the field, .452 percent from the arch, and .598 percent from the line.
Virginia Union University's Todd Hughes scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as VUU defeated Winston-Salem State University 71-68 on Thursday, December 14, in Winston-Salem, N.C. The win evened VUU's record at 6-6 and made the Panthers 1-0 in the CIAA.
As a team for the season, VUU is shooting .443 percent from the field, .307 percent from behind the arc, and .711 percent from line. VUU out rebounds their opponents 40 to 33 (+7).
The Blue Bears will also host Lincoln University on Monday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
