LC Volleyball Tumbles to Benedict
SALISBURY - The Livingstone College women's volleyball team dropped their third non-conference contest Tuesday night as they fell to Benedict College 3-1 in New Trent Gymnasium. The loss drops the Lady Blue Bears record to 3-8 overall.

Livingstone won the second set 25-16, however Benedict proceeds to winning the next two sets. Benedict used an 8-0 run in the first set to take a 20-13 lead and then had to hold off a late Livingstone rally. Livingstone had a 20-17 lead in the third set, but the Lady Tigers scored the next three points. The Blue Bears then scored three points in a row for a 23-21 lead. Benedict went on another three-point burst, but the Lady Blue Bears pulled ahead 26-25, but the Lady Tigers closed out the set with three straight points, with two kills.
In the fourth set, Benedict had runs of 7-0 and 6-0 to build up a big lead and closed out the match with the final three points, getting the match winner on an ace by Benedict.

Livingstone recorded 30 total kills in the match, 12 Jekisha Rhynes, seven from Shantell Billups and six from Ajia Long. Setter Kierra Acuff led the team with 22 assists. Freshman libero Alondra Rivera recorded nine digs.

The Lady Blue bears return to conference action on Thursday, Oct. 4, when they visit Charlotte, N.C., taking on rival Johnson C. Smith at 6 p.m.
