Lincoln, PA- The men's basketball team looked to have a frustrated look on their faces as they swallowed another tough (69-64)conference loss on Monday (Jan.5) against the Lions of Lincoln College.
By any measure, it was a game the Blue Bears most certainly let slip away.
The two squads battled back-and-forth for much of a physical first half, even going into halftime with a tied score of 25-25.
Despite the loss the boys played tough and the go-to guys Mayo and Dubose always seemed to show up at the right times.
The two teams hung in tough with one another for majority of the second half, but the Blue Bears dug themselves a hole when they allowed the Lions to tie the game at 55-55, for the boys never saw the lead again.
Eric Dubose tried to save the day once again actually making the Blue Bears' last nine points alone, but the frenetic comeback didn't play out for good, as time expired.
Dubose showed up with a late three-pointer assisted by
Robert Flint, to close the deficit to as close as 67-64 with 10 seconds left in the game, but the two foul shots knocked down by the Lions sent them over into victory.
Tonight's showing was led by
Eric Dubose who led in scoring with 21 points, followed by the stellar play of
Eric Mayo who posted for a double-double 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Dubose added in four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Hakeem Jackson also finished in double figures with 11 points, two blocks and seven rebounds.
The loss drops the Blue Bears to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the CIAA Conference.
The Blue Bears will head home to host their first home game of the season. They will square off at 7:30 P.M.
