October 27, 2014

Salisbury, NC- The 2014 men's basketball CIAA Champions, under the direction of Head Coach James Stinson, begin the 2014-2015 season against Duke University blue devils for the first time in Livingstone history.

The exhibition game against Duke takes place on November 4 in Durham, N.C. in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Bears enter the season ranked number 1 in the Southern Division of the conference, for the predicted order of finish, picked by the CIAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association.

The Blue Bears 21-8 overall and 11-5 in the conference last year, winning the CIAA for the first time in school history and playing in the NCAA Division II playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Although the Blue Bears lost some major players including Mark Thomas and Jody Hill, Stinson is relying heavily on key players including Eric Mayo and Eric DuBose to pick up the slack.

Mayo a senior forward from Shelby, N.C. was named to the preseason All-CIAA Team and averaged 9.9 points per game last season.

DuBose and junior guard from Brooklyn, N.Y. averaged 7.9 points per game for the Blue Bears.

Livingstone will host eight games this season and 14 on the road.
