Smith Tallies 22 Kills

The Livingstone College volleyball team suffered double losses against Florida Memorial University and Johnson & Wales University, in day two of the Livingstone College Invitational. The Blue Bears suffered a 3-2 loss to the Lions of FMU (25-12, 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 13-15).  Johnson & Wales swept Livingstone three straight sets (23-25, 20-25, 16-25).

In the game against Florida Memorial, Carrie Blunt had a team high of 17 kills and two blocks. Shadella Smith followed with 11 kills and five blocks. Livingstone had more kills than FMU (52-47), however FMU outlasted the Blue Bears.

In game two, Smith tallied another 11 kills. Johnson & Wales focused on their passes and was able to minimize their errors compared to Livingstone. The Blue Bears recorded 29 errors while JWU only had 16.

The Blue Bears even out their record to 2-2.

Livingstone will return to action on Wednesday, September 11 as they host Bluefield State College in Trent Gymnasium. Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m.
