Salisbury, NC- Livingstone College's Shadella Smith guided the Blue Bears to their first win of the season with 10 kills over Edward Waters. The Blue Bears took a 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 25-21) win over the Lady Tigers in New Trent Gymnasium.

Carrie Blunt posted nine kills, followed by Lareecia Swiney's eight kills. LaPria Saunders paced the Blue Bears with 35 assists. Deyanna Reed and Ebony Moore's six kills gave Livingstone momentum to push past Edward Waters for a victory in the first two matches.

The Lady Tigers scored eight straight points over the Blue Bears in the third set (25-21). The Blue Bears powered through the fourth set to a 25-21 win.

The Blue Bears are now 1-0 on the season and will host the Livingstone College Invitational September 6-7 in New Trent Gym. Livingstone will start game one against Morris College at 4:00 p.m., on Friday.
