The Livingstone College volleyball team began conference play this past weekend in Lincoln, PA. The Blue Bears posted a 2-1 record at the 2013 CIAA volleyball Roundup hosted by Lincoln University (PA).

On Saturday, the Blue Bears split their first two matches losing to Virginia Union University, and then taking Bowie State University to a four-game set for a victory. They wrapped up the weekend by sweeping Lincoln in three straight sets.

In the first match loss against Virginia Union (17-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-27), Carrie Blunt led the Blue Bears with nine kills, one service ace, and two blocks.

The Blue Bears rebounded with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22) victory over Bowie State University.
LaPria Saunders had a match-high 10 kills, four blocks and three service aces while Deyanna Reed and
Ebony Moore tallied six kills respectively.

Livingstone concluded the roundup with a three-set sweep over Lincoln (25-15, 25-22, 25-14). The Blue Bears played aggressively at the net tallying 14 blocks to Lincoln's six. Blunt recorded a match-high 13 kills and four blocks.

The Blue Bears improve their record to 5-3 overall, and 2-1 in the CIAA.
Livingstone will return to action, September 17 as they host the Dragons of Virginia University of Lynchburg. The match is set for 5:00 p.m.
