Ishaq Nadir joins the Livingstone College women’s basketball program for his first season, bringing decades of experience in leadership, player development, and community engagement.
Nadir’s commitment to equity and service began at the University of Cincinnati, where he majored in Criminal Justice and served as Chair of the Cultural Affairs Committee in Student Government. His activism included facilitating conflict resolution programs and working with youth through the Jumpstart Drug Prevention initiative. In recognition of his dedication, the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services honored him with the Student of the Year Award in 1995.
A respected community leader, Nadir has served as a Trustee for the Avondale Community Council, applying his expertise in mediation and group facilitation to address local challenges. His civic involvement spans organizations such as Ceasefire, Public Allies Cincinnati, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, and the Greater Cincinnati Race Relations Council.
Professionally, Nadir has spent over 25 years in social services, mental health, and youth development, including roles as a Family Advocate and Community Liaison with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. His life’s work centers on cultivating and coaching youth—helping them grow both in life and athletics.
Nadir’s coaching journey began in 1998 as an assistant at St. Xavier High School, where he contributed to the team’s Ohio High School State Championship in 2000. As a player, he was a standout student-athlete at Purcell Marian High School, winning a state title in 1985 and later setting the single-game assist record (19) at Seminole Community College in Florida.
Most recently, Nadir expanded his impact globally, developing athletes in Ghana, West Africa, through his organization TOP C.A.T. (Critical Athletic Thinking), which combines skill development with critical thinking. His international experience has enriched his coaching philosophy and broadened his network in the global basketball community.
A native of Cincinnati, Nadir is excited to bring his passion for mentorship and player development to the women’s basketball program, continuing his mission to help student-athletes excel on and off the court.
