Justin Davis is entering his 19th season as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Livingstone College.
This marks Davis’ second tenure at Livingstone. He first joined the institution in 2005 as the jumps coach and strength and conditioning coach for track and field, serving in that role for two seasons. He then spent two years coaching track and football at the middle and high school levels before returning to Livingstone in the fall of 2008 to lead the program.
During his collegiate coaching career, Davis has guided Livingstone’s program to significant success. Under his leadership, the program has produced 35 NCAA Division II National Qualifiers, including Quanera Hayes, a 12-time NCAA Division II All-American, NCAA National Champion in the 200m, and three-time National Champion in the 400m. Hayes also competed in two USA National Championships while at Livingstone.

Beyond athletic achievement, Davis has emphasized academic excellence. His teams have earned:

Coach Davis is a two-time Livingstone College Coach of the Year. When he resumed leadership, the women’s track and field program had been inactive in conference championship competition for two years. Through strategic recruiting and program development, he revitalized the program, growing its roster from fewer than 15 athletes to more than 80.
Davis earned a B.A. in Communication/Theatre Arts from Western Carolina University in 2005. During his collegiate athletic career, he helped lead the Western Carolina men’s track and field team to the 2004 Southern Conference Championship, contributing to the rise of a SoCon powerhouse. He was a three-time All-Conference athlete and a conference champion in the long jump, as well as an All-Conference performer in the triple jump. A Dean’s List student, Davis was also named Most Valuable Player in Field Events in 2004 while serving as team captain.
Justin Davis is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. A native of Salisbury, North Carolina, he is the son of Benjamin and Suzette Davis. He is married to Lakeshia Otto Davis, and they have one son, Nolan Sean Benjamin (6).
