Chantell Alford joined the Livingstone College women's basketball program in June 2023.
A native of New Haven, Connecticut. Alford enjoyed a dual-sport athletic career at Wilbur Cross High School (New Haven, CT), basketball (2005-2009), and outdoor track (2007-2009). As a girls' basketball team member, she earned All-Area and All-State nods and saw back-to-back State semifinal appearances in her Junior and Senior seasons. She was also coached by the new Head Coach, Queen Smith, during her Freshman and Sophomore campaigns.Â
Though not highly recruited, Alford earned an athletic scholarship to Boston University (2009-2013). There she became the first player in America East (AE) history to be awarded three Player of the Year distinctions. She was also named Rookie of the Year in 2009-2010 and named to the AE First Team each of her four years. Alford ranks 3rd all-time in scoring (1,802), 4th in steals (264), 7th in assists (349), and 1st in 3pt field percentage (40.0 percent); and also saw two WNIT post-season appearances. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
After graduating Boston University, her professional career saw her stop in Belarus where she captured a Belarusian League Championship and garnered Finals MVP (2013-2014) and a long-term stay and career in Ireland (2015-2020). There she won two Cup Finals, two League Championships, and 1 Finals MVP. During her time in Ireland, she was awarded a scholarship from the North Atlantic Basketball Academy to attend Dublin Institute of Technology (now: TU Dublin) where she earned a postgraduate master's degree in Business & Entrepreneurship.
Since calling an end to her playing career in 2020, Alford entered the coaching realm returning to her old stomping grounds at Wilbur Cross High School and Connecticut Starters AAU organization to assist with coaching their respective girls' basketball teams (2021-2023).
