Coach Petty is entering his 2nd year with the Blue Bears Men's basketball program. 
Coach Petty will have a similar role with the Blue Bears as the Developmental Team Head Coach/Director and assistant with Varsity, while also taking on other roles within the athletic department. 
Petty says this is a great opportunity at Livingstone to continue to grow as a coach and the ability to learn from a very successful coach and mentor under Coach Stinson.
Recently, Coach Petty was the Head Developmental Team Coach and Associate Head Coach for Varsity at Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA. 
Petty is known for his Player Development and Recruiting, with his ties around the country and internationally Coach Petty will help the Blue Bears to continue their winning tradition on and off the court. 
Coach Petty has assisted over 50 players that have received college scholarships at all levels of college basketball. Also working and being mentored by some of the best coaches in the game. Petty has coached AAU and Post Grad basketball and has worked some of the top camps in the country. Coach Petty coached the United States GAMES in Georgia with his 17u team from North Carolina that he recruited.
Coach Petty is from Forest City, NC where he played at East Rutherford High School and attended Prep School at Prince Ave. Prep in South Carolina. He played college basketball at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC where he led the Warriors to the NAIA national tournament in 2005 and 2006.
