Class of 2012
Larry H. Hicks is a member of the Class of 1971 (BA Sociology/Psychology) and a native of Roxboro, N.C. Larry entered Livingstone College (LC), in the fall of 1967 as a defensive back, although he played quarterback in high school. He was heavily recruited by three LC alumni-Charles Kirk (Hall of Fame), Vernal Coleman and Mary Harris. They were all from Salisbury and were Larry's former teachers in high school. Larry was so impacted by their influence, that he lived by himself during his senior year in high school to receive a full scholarship to LC, while his parents resided in Washington DC. At LC, he was a defensive back during his freshman and sophomore years. During his junior year, he transitioned to fullback. He was a four Letterman in football and track.

Julie Tarrance is a 2002 graduate of Livingstone College with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information System. During her college career at Livingstone she played and received scholarships for basketball and volleyball. Tarrance enters the 2012 LC Hall of Fame Class as a basketball player. While at Livingstone Tarrance received the following accolades: All CIAA First Team (1999, 2000, 2001), All time rebounder for LC (930), 2000 CIAA Conference Champion, WNBA 2001 Draft Prospect and Participant, 2001 South Atlantic Region Second-Team All-American, CIAA Player of the Week, and 2002 NCAA Division II Record Book – Total/Avg. Block shots (1998 – 2001).

Rodney Gidney is a 2001 graduate of Livingstone College and enters the 2012 Hall of Fame Class as a basketball player. While at Livingstone College he was a 3 year team captain, 3 time All-CIAA performer, 2 times All-South Region performer, Black College All-Star, and 2000 Street & Smith’s Preseason All- American. He graduated in May 2001 with a degree in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Business Administration.

Jermaine Wilson, from Goose Creek, SC, received his B.S. Degree in Sport Management, class of 1999. Wilson was a part of the football team during the 1994 and 1995 seasons and ran track 1995 -1998.While running track he was an All- CIAA performer in the 4x100 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, long jump and twice in the triple jump. He was the 1996 CIAA Outdoor Champion in the triple jump and went on to California to compete in the NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships. This accomplishment made him the first male athlete from Livingstone to compete in the Triple Jump. He met the NCAA DII Outdoor Provisional qualifying mark for the Triple Jump for the 1996 - 1998 seasons. Wilson was named the 1995 Livingstone College Rookie of the Year for track and in 1998 he was named the MVP of the Field Events and currently holds the school record in the triple jump.

Gerald Gayle is a 2002 graduate of Livingstone College with a B.S in Business Administration. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.89 GPA. He came to Livingstone College on a LC honors scholarship in 1998 and walked onto the track team. He was an outstanding student-athlete during his four years at LC. He was an eight time All-CIAA performer: He collected(6) CIAA medals,(2) silver medals for runner-up in the men 55M(2001 & 2002),(2) bronze medals for the men 4x100m relay (1999 & 2002) and (2) bronze medals for men 4x400m relay (2000 &2002). He was also CIAA finalist three other times, men 100m in 2002. He earned All-American honors twice in the men 4x100-8th place 2001 and 7th place 2002. He was named LC rookie of the year in 1999, MVP of indoor track in 2001 and most improved for Cross Country in 2002. He was also named Grady Nelson scholar in 2002 for the student athlete graduating with the highest GPA 3.89. In 2001 he broke the LC record for the 55M with a time of 6.29s, that time was ranked by the USTFA as one of the top 20 times in the nation including collegiate and professional athletes. He also qualified for the NCAA Div 11 55M finals where he finished 9th due to a hamstring injury. H e was well on his way to becoming LC first ever individual national champion as he had a big lead on the field before injuring his hamstring with about 15 meters to go.

Robert Brandon began his collegiate career in 1967 at Livingstone College. While at Livingstone he was a four-year starter and letterman as the offensive center. During Brandon’s sophomore year as a Blue Bear, he was named team captain. Brandon also was awarded the Offensive Lineman of the Year in 1970, and the All-CIAA Offensive Center the same year.

James Ingram Berry entered Livingstone College in August, 1965 where he played on the first string for all four years of his college career, and was selected team captain his senior year. James was a member of the Block L Club, and a member of the Nu Gamma Alpha social club. James graduated May 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in social studies.

Thomas Marshall is a 1970 graduate of Livingstone College and was inducted into the 2012 Hall of Fame Class as a football player. Marshall received a full four (4) year scholarship to attend Livingstone College. At Livingstone College, Mr. Marshall was a good student and athlete. He was on the Dean’s List every semester and graduated with honors. He also captained the football team in his sophomore, junior and senior years.
