Women's Basketball Falls to Shaw University, 88-77
Raleigh, N.C.- The Livingstone College women's basketball team suffered a tough 88-77 defeat against Shaw University.
Thalia Carter had an outstanding performance, scoring 20 points while grabbing 6 rebounds and recording 9 steals in 37 minutes of play. She was nearly flawless at the free-throw line, shooting 6-for-7. Samiyah Briggs also had a notable performance, adding 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Bria Griffith chipped in with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, while also contributing defensively.
While the game featured solid performances from multiple players, including Morgan Kelson (3 points, 2 rebounds in 20 minutes) and Jay'La Williams (2 points, 2 rebounds), Shaw's offensive firepower ultimately prevailed.
As the season continues, the women's basketball team will regroup and focus on their next match-up.
On February 15, they will host Fayetteville State University at 2pm. This game is especially significant as it marks the celebration of 50 years of women in sports, honoring the progress and contributions of female athletes over the decades.
