Baltimore, MD- The Livingstone College women's basketball team ended their season with a 68-54 loss to Bowie State in their final game. Despite a hard-fought effort and some individual standouts, the Lady Blue Bears couldn't overcome the Bulldogs in a game that saw momentum shift back and forth.
Livingstone came out strong in the first half, but Bowie State's defense proved difficult to break down as the game progressed. The Lady Blue Bears struggled with consistency, especially shooting from beyond the arc, where they were 3-for-12 (25%), and their field goal percentage overall (33%) was not enough to keep them in contention.
Morgan Kelson led the charge for Livingstone, playing 31 minutes and finishing with 11 points and 15 rebounds, showing her resilience on both ends of the court.
Thalia Carter added 7 points and 3 rebounds, while
Samiyah Briggs struggled with her shooting but still contributed 5 points.
In the second half, the Lady Blue Bears continued to battle but couldn't close the gap as Bowie State's offense started to find its rhythm.
Nielle Reaves provided a spark off the bench, scoring 10 points, while
Jasiyah Crawford also had a solid performance with 7 points, including two three-pointers. However, it was not enough to overcome the Bulldogs' offensive firepower.
While the loss closed out the Lady Blue Bears' season, their fight and determination throughout the game demonstrated the heart and grit of the team. Livingstone will look to build on these experiences as they prepare for the next season.
