Livingstone Falls Short in 65-61 Battle at Newberry

Newberry, SC- Livingstone women's basketball came up just short in a hard-fought contest against undefeated Newberry, falling 65-61 on Saturday afternoon at Eleazer Arena.

Despite a slow start, the Lady Blue Bears rallied late, outscoring the Wolves 21-13 in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome an early deficit.

Newberry (6-0) jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 12 at halftime. Livingstone (0-4) found its rhythm in the second half, shooting 50% in the third quarter and an impressive 60% in the fourth, but the comeback fell just short.

Key Performers

  • Jasiyah Crawford led the Lady Blue Bears with 12 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.
  • Boston Bates added 10 points and four rebounds.
  • Ny'Asia Green controlled the glass with a game-high 13 rebounds and chipped in eight points.
Livingstone dominated the paint with 36 points and pulled down 45 rebounds, including 15 second-chance points. However, 21 turnovers proved costly as Newberry converted them into 20 points. The Wolves were paced by Rickell Brown's 23 points and Marykate Kent's five three-pointers for 15 points.

The Blue Bears will look to bounce back Wednesday, December 3rd, as they host Carolina University at 5:30pm.
